On a lovely October day, Tufts Alumni Atlanta brought together 15 alums for a busy morning of hands-on volunteer work for the Piedmont Park Conservancy. This is the central green space in Atlanta, Atlanta's “Central Park,” and they rely on volunteers to pitch in to keep the Park clean and green. Alums were tasked with weeding, cleaning out invasive species, and pruning overgrown shrubbery from a lovely lakeside spot. The group put in four hours of hard work, and according to group leader Betsy Reid, it was gratifying to see the area come into focus when they were done. Betsy said, "A high point for me was when, after we took a picture at the end to capture the experience, we all spontaneously decided to spend the afternoon together. We strolled, shopped the Farmer’s Market, and lunched at an outdoor café. It was a day well spent, doing good and making new friends."
